Valerie Martin, MD

Dr. Valerie Martin is a board-certified pediatrician at Academy Children’s Clinic, where she has
cared for children since 2022. She earned her undergraduate degree from Butler University
before receiving her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. She
completed her pediatric residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and practiced
outpatient pediatrics at Mayo Clinic before later caring for patients at an outpatient clinic in
Charlotte, North Carolina.
Having trained and practiced in multiple states and healthcare settings—including both
academic medicine and private practice—she brings a broad perspective on the diverse
challenges and opportunities facing pediatricians and the families they serve.
Dr. Martin values the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation for its commitment to bringing general
pediatricians and pediatric sub-specialists together through education, collaboration, and
professional support. She is honored to serve on the Foundation’s Board of Directors and
looks forward to contributing to its mission by strengthening connections among pediatric
providers and supporting educational initiatives that help clinicians remain current with
evolving research and best practices.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
She enjoys hiking, biking, tennis, swimming, traveling, and exploring Tennessee’s parks with
her family.
